Brothers Armia and Arsham make up Vessbroz, a DJ and producer duo who have been absolutely killing the scene ever since their debut release back in 2015. With a background in classical music, their signature sound is best summed up as exquisitely produced, hard-hitting dance style with a touch of quirkiness, as the Vessbroz strive to constantly innovate themselves infusing their sonic palette with dashes of mainstream pop sounds to heavy dance floor grooves that grip their audiences. We caught up with them to discuss their biggest release to date, ‘Follow Me’, with Mark Voss and Monika Kiss.
- Tell us about the inspiration behind ‘Follow Me’?
We wanted to make something different from all the other songs out there, something that people can sing and even dance to.
There are many songs in Dance genre that has the same production with a loud kick and a massive synth playing all over the place, we wanted to make a bridge between pop and dance music especially as the drop represents the whole idea of the song. We really zoned in on the vocal synth as a lead instrument in the drop.
- How did you meet Mark Voss and Monika Kiss?
We never actually met until we gathered under one roof to shoot the music video! At first, we received the sweet top line from Monika via email and then we and Mark Voss started to work on it while communicating through email. When we finally met to make the music video, we felt like we’ve known each other a really long time and we had so much fun together whilst shooting this music video! And also, I want to thank Nixon from Studio Eighty-Three who shot this amazing music video for us! Especially after he broke his chin while running behind us with the camera!
- What was it like working together?
It was very easy and of course fun, but sometimes challenging as well because we don’t know each other well and none of us are native English speakers so sometimes we found it hard to understand each other but I guess through our music was the best way we communicated!
We got some really great feedback from the guys at Revealed so there was a lot of little changes, but they loved our final track. It was definitely a great experience for us, and we learned a lot from it.
- How has the initial reaction to the track been?
Wow, it was amazing and still is! Lots of people, in particular Revealed followers left many comments and message about this song and most of them mentioned they never heard something like this before and they were surprised that Revealed released this song especially with the music video, they loved the fact that it sounds so different. That reminded us that originality is the most important thing and we will for sure be going to release more surprising songs after this. That is a promise that we are going to give to our listeners and fans, with each song we are going to surprise them!
- You’ve released this with Revealed Recordings, what was it like working with those guys?
We worked with the Sony music team for our “Lost” album so we’ve had a bit of experience with this but Revealed team was something else! They really cared about the release and they made sure everything was going to be perfect, even though this is our first song with them! Not every label does this for you, they even invited us to a private meeting where they shared with us their knowledge about how to improve our social media presence as well as advising us on our music. We learned a lot from that session and I just want to thank Revealed team for giving us this opportunity.
- How does it feel to be supported by Hardwell?
When your song is getting support by a DJ like Hardwell, you feel like finally, all the hard work has paid off, and you know that now you are on the right direction which feels amazing! Sometimes you lose your confidence because you’re wondering if you’re doing the right thing or whether you’re good enough so, getting support and validation by a top DJ like Hardwell is a huge blessing.
- What’s next in store for the Vessbroz?
Besides the new releases, we have a huge surprise for our fans, for the first time in our career, we are going to share our life story! We always share our music with our fans but we never shared anything about how we started and how the journey was for us, and all the struggles and problems that we faced, overcame and passed!
We are going to make a documentary about our life not because we feel like now, we are a successful artist or on top of our game now, but because we really feel our story could inspire many people especially those who live in so-called 3rd world countries. There’s a lot to share and we want to keep it a surprise but keep eyes on our social media for that!
